Q: I work part-time. What is the maximum number of hours I should take?

A: We recommend that students who work more than 20 hours per week take no more than 12 hours per semester, especially during their first semester at UNT. Learning to balance work and school can be a difficult skill to master, and students should give themselves the best chance at succeeding academically by respecting that balance.

Q: I work full time. What is the maximum number of hours I should take?

A: We recommend that students who work more than 35 hours per week take no more than 9 hours per semester, especially during their first semester at UNT. Working full time can be mentally and physically exhausting, and students should give themselves the best chance at succeeding academically by keeping their time and energy limitations in mind.
