Bill P. Buckles is Associate Dean for Research at UNT. Bill oversees graduate curricular affairs including the introduction of new courses and revision of existing ones. He has the responsibility of promoting research including the promulgation of information, hosting program managers, and visiting agencies and other academic institutions to inform a broader community of the College’s successes.

Dr. Buckles received the PhD degree in industrial engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 1981. Previously he held the Yahoo! Founders Chair at Tulane University. He is engaged in modeling and analysis of phenomena based on 3-D and conventional imagery and has published more than 150 technical papers on the topics including databases, genetic algorithms, and image processing. Over his career, he has been PI or Co-PI on more than $6M in grants from NASA, NSF, the Missile Defense Agency, and others. He is a senior member of IEEE, a member of the IEEE computer Society, a member of ACM, and a former editorial board member of the IEEE Trans. on Parallel and Distributed Systems.
