Important Academic Policies
- During your first semester at UNT, you are strongly urged to get a degree audit to determine what courses you will need to take to earn your second bachelor’s degree.
- If you earned your first degree at a Texas state institution, you will likely be considered core complete. Please talk to an advisor about whether you will need to meet any core requirements.
- You will be required to complete at least 12 advanced hours in the major of your second bachelor’s degree;most students do not have a problem meeting this requirement because of major course requirements.
- You must complete at least 25% of the coursework toward your degree in residence at UNT. Please consult an academic advisor to find out if this rule applies to you.
- Normal course duplication guidelines may not apply to students seeking a second bachelor’s degree. Please see an advisor if you have questions about duplicating a particular course.
- All new students are strongly urged to complete all College of Engineering core requirements before taking any major-related courses
- Coursework from your first degree, no matter how old, does not expire. However, if your first degree involved technology and/or engineering and some time has passed, some coursework may not be able to count toward your second bachelor’s degree as the course materials may be outdated or obsolete. Please discuss course applicability for all coursework with an advisor.
- Candidates for a second bachelor’s degree cannot graduate with honors
